Sound Absorbers

Comparing Absorber Panels

Reverberation noise is an ever-growing problem in the United Kingdom. It is a problem that is encountered by many market sectors including the education, the leisure and the commercial sector. Speech intelligibility, a comfortable environment to work or learn and to maintain concentration levels within an office environment are just a selection of issues that we are encountering every day at school, work or in our leisure time. Schools, other education facilities, offices, restaurants and other leisure facilities are just a number of places that are seeing this increasing problem and Hush Acoustics have put together this blog post to point out the benefits of using the Hush Absorber range of products to cure these issues.

Our bespoke foam panels versus mineral fibre alternatives:

Hush Absorber panels have a ‘Class A’ rating for absorption and are manufactured using a ‘Class O’ fire rated acoustic foam. Many alternative products in the market place are manufactured from mineral and glass fibre infill materials, which we believe to be of inferior quality. Mineral and glass fibre is a ‘shedding’ material, that is to say that small fibres can be released into the air if a panel is moved or struck by an object. This can be unpleasant when handling and installing, but is also undesirable in many environments such as schools, hospitals and offices. The foam used in the Hush Absorber panels is non-shedding and will not release any fibres.

Mineral and glass fibre panels do not have a ‘memory’ – when they are struck by a ball, for example, it will often leave an indentation in the panel and the decorative fabric facing can become loose and baggy over time as it loses its bond to the fibrous material behind. Clearly, this is not suitable in environments such as gymnasiums, sports centres and community centres where ball games take place. By contrast, Hush Absorber panels have an incredible memory and are extremely robust; they will take impacts directly and immediately reform to their original shape.
