Hush-Batten 55 – Acoustic Batten

Suitable for:

  • domestic
  • residential
  • education
  • healthcare

Hush-Batten 55 has been designed as a resilient composite batten used to enable the construction of a service void, whilst reducing impact sound transmission between separating floors. Hush-Batten 55 provides long lasting support for floating timber or chipboard floors owing to superior quality timber and the highly resilient acoustic Hushfelt™ used in manufacture. Excellent results are achieved in both refurbishment and new build projects when Hush-Batten 55 are used as part of a sound insulation system for separating floors.

For advice on the use of Hush-Batten 55 – Acoustic Batten, as part of a system within any project, please contact our experienced technical team on 0151 933 2026 who will be happy to give comprehensive and practical advice to meet with your requirements.

  • Easily upgrades concrete floors less than 300 kg per m² mass per unit area when used in conjunction with Hush-Felt 10 Resilient Layer.
  • Designed to exceed the current Building Regulation requirements of Part E (England and Wales), Part H (Scotland) and Part G (Northern Ireland).
  • Robust Details FFT3 compliant for floor structures EFC-1, EFC-2 and EFS-1.
  • Comprises 45mm x 45mm planed timber and a 10mm acoustic resilient layer of Hushfelt™ factory bonded to the underside.

1. Loose lay the battens, felt side down, in continuous rows at recommended centres. Allow for perimeter battens at the ends of the batten runs. All perimeter battens must be isolated by at least 25mm from the walls.

2. If using in conjunction with Hushfelt™ 10 Resilient Layer, roll out the felt layer across the base structure, prior to laying the battens, making sure that there are no gaps and that all areas are covered.

3. When planning the floor layout leave a 10-15mm expansion gap around all perimeters, fix the flooring boards to the battens using a generous amount of Hush-Bond Panel Adhesive and secure with ring nails or screws. The fixings must not penetrate the resilient layer to the underside of the battens. At the same time the flooring boards should be glued at all teegee joints board to board.

4. Press Hush-Seal 20 Perimeter Seal into the perimeter expansion gap ensuring that the floor floats freely of the walls maintaining acoustic isolation or use perimeter detail as per Robust Detail instructions using Hush-RD Flanking Strip.

Full fitting instructions are supplied with all products and are available to download from the Installation Guides section.
