Hush Felt being manufactured

ECO Friendly Acoustic Insulation Products

Our society is facing serious challenges. We live in a world of dwindling natural resources, while our landfills are bursting at the seams with waste, all of this against the background of climate change.

All these issues come down to how we use materials and the fact that we live in a world where we continue to produce things instead of recycling. In an effort to avert a crisis, the government and environment agencies have set a number of targets to reduce the waste sent to landfills.

The construction industry, for one, seems to be caught between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand they have to contribute to reducing landfill and meeting these targets but on the other hand, the UK still needs many new developments including houses, schools and industrial units to be built over the coming years. These developments will require huge quantities of raw materials and the waste from these raw materials could end up adding to the landfill.

This is when designing eco-friendly developments becomes essential. Not only because they are more energy efficient but also because they reduce waste by reusing building materials that are recycled, such as recycled flooring.

With 25 years’ experience, HUSH’s commitment to providing sustainable solutions for their customers is second to none and we will go to great lengths to ensure it continues. Our products, such as our range of environmentally friendly flooring, exceed the requirements of UK Building Regulations and of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

We purchase materials only from sustainable sources and maximise our use of recycled raw materials, as is the case with our high performing and attractive eco flooring.

To this effect we have, for example, partnered Anglo Recycling for many years who are as passionate about reducing waste as we are. Their credentials cannot fail to impress: during a trial with John Lewis Partnership, they have managed, in 2 years, to divert 20 tonnes of carpet a week from landfills, by recycling the fibres into underlay which was then sold as a new product by John Lewis. We rightly feel that their commitment is as strong as ours to reducing landfill and that they are the right recycling partner for Hush to be involved with.

When it comes to eco friendly flooring, customers want to know that quality won’t be compromised and that tog rating and acoustic performance will be to the same standards. But once this is achieved, at a competitive price, you will find that trade customers as well as consumers embrace this sustainable solution readily.
