The Hush Mat 15 RB System is an effective separating floor and ceiling solution for timber joist constructions, combining Hush Mat 15 acoustic underlay with resilient bar technology to deliver high airborne and impact sound insulation. Fully compliant with Part E of the Building Regulations, this system is designed for new build and refurbishment projects where a lightweight yet durable acoustic treatment is required. It provides a cost-effective method of reducing sound transmission in residential, commercial, and student living environments.

System Components

• Hush Mat 15 bonded to timber structure with Hush Contact Adhesive.
• Original floorboards or 18mm/22mm T&G chipboard/plywood deck over joists.
• Hush-Slab 100 Sound Absorber fitted tightly between joists.
• Hush-Bar Deep Resilient Bars fixed horizontally to underside of joists at 600mm centres.
• Two layers of 15mm Soundbloc plasterboard to underside of resilient bars.
• Hush Acoustic Sealant applied to all perimeters before skimming.

Installation Guidance

• Bond Hush Mat 15 directly to the timber structure using Hush Contact Adhesive.
• Install suitable floor finishes over Hush Mat 15 in line with manufacturer’s instructions.
• Use either original timber floorboards or a new 18mm/22mm T&G chipboard/plywood deck over joists.
• Fit Hush-Slab 100 tightly between joists, ensuring there are no air gaps.
• Fix Hush-Bar Deep Resilient Bars horizontally to underside of joists at 600mm centres.
• Install two layers of 15mm Soundbloc plasterboard to the underside of the Hush-Bar Deep Resilient Bars.
• Seal all perimeters with Hush Acoustic Sealant before skim finishing.
