The Hush System BB Screed Sound Insulation is a complete acoustic solution for beam and block floor constructions. It combines the Hush Underscreed 8 Acoustic Membrane with a resilient screed layer above and a suspended MF ceiling with absorptive insulation below. This dual treatment delivers high levels of airborne and impact sound insulation, achieving full compliance with Part E of the Building Regulations. The system is widely specified for residential apartments, student accommodation, and mixed-use buildings where robust separating floors are essential.
System Components
- Hush Underscreed 8 Acoustic Membrane.
- Beam and block structural floor construction.
- Sand/cement screed with Hush RD Flanking Strip to isolate perimeters.
- Hush MF Ceiling System with 150mm void.
- Hush Slab 100 Sound Absorber within MF ceiling void.
- Two layers of 12.5mm Soundbloc Plasterboard, skim finished.
Installation Guidance
- Install the Hush Underscreed 8 Acoustic Membrane directly over the beam and block structure, following the installation guide.
- Lay screed over the Hush Underscreed Membrane, ensuring no screed bridges the beam and block construction.
- Isolate the screed perimeter using the Hush RD Flanking Strip.
- Install the Hush MF Ceiling system to the underside of the beam and block floor, maintaining a 150mm clear void.
- Fit Hush Slab 100 Sound Absorber within the MF Ceiling System.
- Finish the ceiling with two layers of 12.5mm Soundbloc plasterboard, skimmed to a smooth finish.
- New build apartments with beam and block floors.
