sound insulation system

HD1017: Hush-System HF25 Advanced

Suitable for:

  • domestic
  • residential
  • education
  • leisure

The Hush System HF25 Advanced is a high-performance separating floor and ceiling build-up that provides outstanding airborne and impact sound insulation in timber structures. Building on the standard HF25 design, this advanced system incorporates an additional mass layer by bonding a 19mm plasterboard plank between two layers of flooring grade chipboard. This added density, combined with resilient joist isolation and absorptive infill, delivers superior acoustic performance while maintaining compliance with Part E of the Building Regulations. Below the joists, the system uses the Hush-Bar Plus resilient ceiling solution with Hush-Slab 100 absorbers and a multi-layer plasterboard lining. Together, these elements create an enhanced acoustic system suitable for demanding residential, student living, and refurbishment projects.

System Components

  • Hush-Felt 25 Resilient Strip to joist tops.
  • First layer: 18mm T&G flooring grade chipboard (all joints glued with Hush-Bond).
  • Intermediate mass: 19mm plasterboard plank bonded with Hush Acoustic Sealant.
  • Second layer: 18mm T&G chipboard bonded to plank with Hush Acoustic Sealant.
  • Hush Seal 20 perimeter seal to all floor edges.
  • Hush-Slab 100 Sound Absorber fitted between joists.
  • Hush-Bar Plus System screw fixed to underside of joists at 450mm centres.

Installation Guidance

  • Staple Hush-Felt 25 Resilient Strips to the joist tops.
  • Lay 18mm T&G flooring grade chipboard over joists and glue all joints with Hush-Bond.
  • Bond a 19mm plasterboard plank to the top of the chipboard using Hush Acoustic Sealant.
  • Bond a further 18mm T&G chipboard layer to the plank with Hush Acoustic Sealant.
  • Seal all perimeters with Hush Seal 20 perimeter seal.
  • Fit Hush-Slab 100 between joists.
  • Screw fix the Hush-Bar Plus System to the underside of joists at 450mm centres.
  • Residential apartments and houses needing higher acoustic performance.
  • Student accommodation and hotels with stringent noise control requirements.
  • Refurbishments where an enhanced upgrade is needed within a timber floor build-up.
  • Mixed-use and commercial projects using lightweight timber structures.
  • Part E compliant – tested for airborne and impact sound insulation.
  • Advanced mass layer: 19mm plasterboard plank sandwiched between two 18mm chipboard layers.
  • Resilient isolation using Hush-Felt 25 reduces impact transmission through joists.
  • Hush-Bar Plus decouples the ceiling lining from joists for improved airborne performance.
  • Complete, tested system for timber joist constructions in new build and refurbishment projects.
